Laparoscopic intestinal surgery involves the use of minimally invasive techniques to diagnose or treat conditions affecting the small or large intestine. Procedure Overview

Depending on the pathology and segment of bowel involved:

  • The affected segment is removed, and the healthy ends are reconnected (anastomosis) or a temporary stoma may be created.

  • In selected cases, diagnostic laparoscopy is performed to assess abdominal pathology or guide further treatment.

Liver Biopsy

Laparoscopic Approach

Liver biopsy can be performed laparoscopically when:

  • A targeted biopsy is required for a specific lesion visualized on imaging.

  • Concurrent laparoscopic procedures (e.g., cholecystectomy or intestinal surgery) are being performed.

  • There is a high bleeding risk and the surgeon wishes to directly visualize and control the biopsy site.

  • Performed under general anesthesia.

  • The liver surface is directly visualized using a laparoscope.

  • A biopsy needle or forceps is used to obtain tissue from a specific lobe or lesion.

  • Hemostasis is ensured before closure.
