Dr. Alimia has performed thousands of surgeries, including over 2,000 laparotomies, 1,000 gastroscopies, and 350 colorectal surgeries. He is currently a Consultant Surgeon at Netcare Garden City Hospital and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he also mentors future surgeons. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Alimia has contributed to research in areas such as inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal bleeding. He has earned certifications in advanced laparoscopic surgery and trauma life support, and regularly participates in international workshops. His career has spanned several countries, including South Africa, Bangladesh, Iran, and the UK, with notable roles at prominent academic hospitals like Helen Joseph and King Edward VIII. Dr. Alimia’s journey from Medical Officer to Surgical Registrar, and eventually Consultant Surgeon, reflects his lifelong commitment to surgical excellence and patient care.
